The ShirleShawl App allows the knitter to design gently curved shape of the body of a shawl using a lace edging knit in a straight strip and using a provisional cast on. The stitches are picked up from the provisional cast on of the completed lace strip. The body is knit from bottom to top using short rows.
Creating a shawl with this app allows you to:
Select your preferred yarn and needle size.
Choose a preferred body stitch to use for the shawl. Swatch needed.
Choose a lace pattern whether knit top to bottom, sideways [aka knit edgings] or the rarer bottom to top lace. Repeat swatch needed.
Select a Lace Pattern from the Cloud using the Lace Selection View
Enter specific parameters [numbers] based on the gauge, needle size, lace height, desired width and height for a custom designed curved shawl.
Incorporate the knitters selected lace pattern into the curved shawl.
The App will calculate the number of stitches and rows needed to complete the body of the shawl as designed. The App does not design the lace. It does determine the number of Lace repeats and the number of provisional cast ons for the Lace.
The App provides several Lace designs available in the Cloud.
